As fans know, the true murderer is Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who killed Keanu last Christmas while protecting her best friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

With the help of four other women – the group collectively known as “The Six” – they concealed the evidence and framed Dean.

The latest episode saw Sharon take to the stand to give evidence in Dean’s trial.

However, the plan went awry as she crumbled under tough questioning from Dean’s lawyer Finn (Neil Roberts).

He brought up Keanu’s fake kidnapping of Albie to highlight deceitful behaviour.

Finn summarised the situation as a “ruse to con” Sharon out of the substantial ransom money and asked if her late fiancé was a liar.

After Sharon admitted “yes”, he continued by asking if Sharon herself was a liar, however, Sharon argued she was a “good mother”.

The lawyer pressed on by highlighting how Sharon had deceived Keanu that the boy was his biological son – saying she had lied back then and was lying again now.

Finn told those present: “Ms Sharon Watts walked into this courtroom. She swore an oath to tell the truth. And has proceeded to tell us one lie after another.”

He added: “She has a far greater motive to murder Keanu Taylor than my client. And has been telling barefaced lies to this jury.”

Having had enough, Sharon snapped: “You need to watch your mouth.”

As the judge interjected that her comment was inappropriate, she added: “He started it. Making out I’m some sort of killer.”

Their back-and-forth escalated when Finn read out that Albie’s father was Sharon’s ex-husband, Grant Mitchell.

She replied that Albie’s father was Phil, not Grant, while the lawyer told those in the courtroom that Sharon had been married four times.

The judge remarked “Oh my word”, as Sharon shot back: “You can shut your mouth.”

She continued: “Letting him go at me like this. The man is making out like I’m some kind of tramp.”

By ignoring a final warning, Sharon was held in contempt of court, handcuffed and led away just as Linda was arriving to give her witness statement.

Horrified, Linda asked Sharon what was going on, as her friend replied: “The lawyer got to me. Don’t let him do the same to you, do you hear me? You stay strong.

“Because this is all on you now, Linda. It’s all on you.”

Panicked – and having apologised to Sharon – Linda fled from the courtroom, putting The Six’s future into jeopardy.

EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on iPlayer from 6am on day of airing.
