EastEnders fans think a major twist has been teased, following the news Junior Knight would be joining the BBC soap.

Actor Micah Balfour is taking on the role of George Knight’s estranged son, with plenty of secrets set to be shared. It’s clear he’s hiding something, and there’s more than meets the eye.

We don’t know what sparks his return after years apart from his dad, and we also do not know what caused the estrangement in the first place. But soap boss Chris Clenshaw has also hinted that something will come out about Junior after he arrives, with spoilers also suggesting he’s “keeping his cards close to his chest”.

Now, fans are convinced they have worked out a huge twist involving the character that could cause chaos. George himself is currently in a spot of bother, after his kiss with ex-wife Cindy Beale amid his romance with Elaine Peacock.

A new trailer hinted they would battle over him, with the trio in a boxing ring, one woman either side of George. But perhaps it isn’t George who ends up having a fling with Cindy.

Some viewers believe Junior will end up having an affair with Cindy, causing drama with his dad. Taking to X one fan said: “I can see a Junior/Cindy affair and when George decides he wants Cindy again and ends things with Elaine, that’s when the Junior/Cindy affair is revealed and all hell breaks loose,” as a second fan said: “Cindy is going to have an affair with both George and other George. I bet.”

Actor Micah is no stranger to soap land, having appeared in Emmerdale between 2015 and 2016 as Belle Dingle’s lover Jermaine Bailey. The actor has also starred in hit shows Death in Paradise and Doctor Who, as well as The Bill, Casualty and The Murders at White House Farm.

He said of joining the soap: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders as part of the Knight family. I grew up watching the show and many of the characters have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so walking onto the Square for the first time was the most surreal experience of my career!

“It’s a privilege to work with Colin Salmon, who I’ve watched with admiration for many years, and Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford, who are dynamite on screen, as well as the amazing Harriet Thorpe and Kellie Bright. Junior is an exciting character to play as he’s a complex man, and he’s going to cause a bit of a stir!”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Micah Balfour to the cast of EastEnders as he takes on the role of Junior Knight. Although Junior has been referenced since The Knights arrived in the Square, the audience knows very little about George’s son and the circumstances behind their estrangement.

“Junior arrives in Walford following an unlikely meet with his dad and is quickly thrust into the heart of the drama. However, it will soon become apparent to viewers that there is more to Junior than meets the eye.”
