Chrissie Watts has a sinister reason for cosying up to Sharon Watts as her true motives have been rumbled.

After 19 years of absence, with her EastEnders alter ego thrown behind bars for the murder of Den Watts, actress Tracy-Ann Oberman has reprised her role in the BBC One soap, and was reunited with Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) in scenes aired this Monday, September 9.

While viewers expected tensions to be at an all-time high between the pair, Sharon and fans were surprised when Chrissie appeared to have moved past their differences as she explained that her late husband, and Sharon’s father, Den had emotionally abused her throughout their marriage.

Both women seemed to finally come to an agreement, making peace for the first time in almost two decades as Chrissie vowed to take care of Sharon during her time in prison and she even revealed that she was due for parole later on in the week, hinting that her comeback to Albert Square was imminent.

Reddit users were quick to speculate that Chrissie may not have good intentions after all as one took to the social media platform to share their thoughts: “I think she’s set it up so she can save Sharon so Sharon will help with her parole.”

Another one agreed: “That’s what I think too. She wants Sharon to think she’s reformed so that Sharon can put in a good word for her at her parole hearing.” But when Chrissie then instructed another inmate to “teach Sharon a lesson”, viewers of the London-based drama took the theory to another level.

“I think Chrissie has set that woman on Sharon so that when she is about to strike, Chrissie saves Sharon, making Sharon believe Chrissie has actually changed”, a viewer commented.

Another suggested that, though Chrissie may have once cared for her former stepdaughter, her years in prison had clearly “hardened” her. “She either wants to save the day to impress Sharon and get back up for her parole hearing as others have said, or she still holds a grudge against Sharon for thwarting her escape. She clearly doesn’t feel she deserved to lose 19 years of her life for what happened based on what she was saying today.”

This comes after another theory claimed that Chrissie may drop a bombshell on Sharon, telling her that Dean Wicks may be Den Watts’ biological son. The villain played by Matt Di Angelo stood trial for murder in recent EastEnders scenes but, determined to not pay for a crime he didn’t commit, he admitted he’d raped Linda Carter in 2014. He was sentenced to nine years behind bars this Monday, confirming that actor Matt Di Angelo had quit his role.
