EastEnders fans were left “bawling” their eyes out on Thursday night as one character was killed off in emotional scenes.

On Wednesday night, Gloria Knight collapsed in shock scenes. Gloria had finally stood up to her vile husband Eddie Knight in court, with him charged over the murder of their adoptive son George Knight’s real father Henry.

The historic crime came to light and saw George finally find out the truth about his real parents and his adoption, with his life torn apart. With George vowing to face Eddie in court and see him punished, his adoptive mother Gloria also stood up against Eddie, and made it clear whose side she was on.

As Eddie’s lawyer tried to twist George’s account and his words in court, Gloria repeatedly shouted out to support him against her husband. After, she told him how proud she was of him before walking away from Eddie as he waited to learn his fate, leaving Eddie furious.

George let her walk away but his daughter Anna Knight urged him to clear the air with her, after he recently disowned her. Just as George left the courtroom, though, he found Gloria barely conscious on the ground and no one around her.

On Thursday’s episode, Gloria regained consciousness in the hospital after suffering a heart attack and asked George to retrieve a box from her flat containing important information about his childhood. As George headed over to retrieve the box, he was left overwhelmed by memories until he received a call, revealing Eddie had been found guilty and charged with murder.

Wanting to clear his head, George headed to the Boxing Den to let off steam, where Phil Mitchell entered, revealing his son Ben had just been sentenced to six years. After a heart-to-heart, Phil advised George to head back to the hospital and see Gloria.

Later, at the hospital, George learnt that Gloria’s heart attack had caused irreversible damage and the duo shared a sweet moment together, where they took a trip down memory lane. The duo decided to listen to a recorded lullaby from George’s birth mother, where George vowed: “We’re free now, mum, you can come and live with us and I’ll look after you…”

However, George was met with silence and before the track finished, it was revealed that Gloria had tragically passed away in heartbreaking scenes. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Eastenders has me bawling wtf. What a rollercoaster , poor George ffs #EastEnders”, a different account put: “I was FULL on sobbing at the end over Gloria and George #EastEnders” while another added: “Tonights episode was absolutely brilliant im sobbing#EastEnders.”
