BBC EastEnders fans ‘rumble’ Lucas’ plan for Denise as Pastor Clayton’s true identity ‘exposed’

EastEnders viewers are convinced Pastor Clayton and Lucas Johnson share a secret link, amid concern for Denise Fox on the BBC soap.

Viewers also believe Lucas has a secret plan against Denise, and is going to use her recent confession against her. The killer made a shock comeback to the BBC soap in a recent episode after Denise went to see her killer ex.

After the events of Christmas Day, that saw Denise and five others involved in a brutal murder and a cover-up of the crime, Denise sought guidance from killer Lucas over her guilt and panic. Not knowing how to get past the crime, especially with Keanu Taylor’s corpse buried under the floors of the café on the Square, Denise wanted answers on how to get peace.

Since then her mental health has spiralled, and she’s now imagining Keanu everywhere with him offering her warnings. As it all got too much for her, Denise paid another visit to Lucas in prison this week and it led to a damning confession.

Unable to keep it in anymore especially as she feared she wold be framed by the others, Denise told Lucas about her and others burying someone, and covering up a murder. On Wednesday, Lucas probed Denise about her sins and once again urged her to confess.

Denise confirmed details about the crime, but she did not name the others or the victim as being Keanu. Instead as Lucas urged her to tell him everything, she suddenly realised what had happened and became frantic that Lucas would spill the beans.

He then threatened her to tell him everything or he would speak to someone who could. But Denise believed Lucas was working against her with Johnny Carter, and fled the prison.

Prior to this, Pastor Clayton was looking for Denise after recently growing concerned about her. He told Linda Carter something that made it clear to her that he did not know about Keanu, and Denise had not spilled to him after all, despite seeking guidance from him.

Both these scenes and Pastor Clayton seemingly featuring in more episodes, especially around Lucas’ return, left fans with two huge theories. Fans are now convinced Lucas has a real plan for Denise and a secret agenda, and that she may regret telling him about the murder cover-up.

Not only that, but others believe Pastor Clayton and Lucas share a secret link and might be in cahoots for a mystery reason, with Denise in possible danger. Taking to X, one fan posted: “I still think Lucas is trying to get information from Denise he can use to his advantage.”

Another agreed: “Who else thinks Lucas will use this to his advantage?” while one said: “I bet the Pastor is Lucas’ Dad.” A further theory read: “I’ve got the omnious feeling Pastor Clayton is linked to Lucas, dear old dad perhaps?” as another commented: “He’s gotta be linked ain’t he? It’s just all too odd! He’s definitely the ‘false prophet’ Denise mentioned!”
