BBC EastEnders fans ‘worried’ as they ‘rumble’ Johnny Carter’s secret in ‘dark storyline’

EastEnders fans think they know what Johnny Carter is hiding, with him tipped to have “dark” plans for those in Walford.

Viewers are predicting a huge and troubling new storyline is on the way for the character, and that a number of characters need to watch out. After a few years away Johnny made his big comeback to the BBC soap recently, and he was noticeably much more ruthless and dark this time around.

The once compassionate character seemed to have a bit more of an edge to him, with him barely even fazed by the fact his mother Linda Carter is a killer. In December, Linda stabbed and killed Keanu Taylor by accident at The Vic after he tried to hurt Sharon Watts.

Linda and the other women there that night made a pact to conceal Keanu’s murder and what really happened to Nish, before they buried Keanu under the floor of the café. They’ve all been struggling with what happened in recent weeks, with alcoholic Linda relapsing and hitting the bottle much to her family’s concern.

The others involved in the crime were also worried she’d end up confessing her crime, so imagine their dismay when they realised she had told son Johnny everything. Since then, Johnny has been very involved with them and their next moves.

Concern was raised when the murder weapon vanished from Linda’s bedroom, and he’s claiming to be suspicious of the other women involved. Viewers are convinced he’s hidden the weapon though either to frame someone, to hurt Linda or to turn The Six against one another for a mystery reason.

But now fans are speculating there’s more to it and Johnny’s behaviour after the latest episode. On Thursday night, viewers saw Johnny repeatedly telling Linda to brace herself, as her crimes could come to light.

As well as urging her to call off a looming meeting with The Six, telling her to halt contact with them, he made it clear she could not trust them. With Denise Fox’s mental health spiralling and her disappearance sparking concern, Johnny wasted no time in telling Linda it was time to get her story straight.

He very calmly made her believe Denise had fled to the police station to drop her and the others in it, and that Linda was running out of time. As Linda feared her secret was about to explode, Johnny told her to put a brave face on and act normal, while adding that Keanu’s body could soon be found.

The way he was taunting Linda and then accusing the other women left fans convinced he was up to no good, with some believing a “dark” twist was on the way. Viewers questioned if something happened with Johnny while he was away, suggesting he’s become a much more ruthless character with possibly big scenes ahead.

One fan posted on X: “A dark storyline is defo coming for Johnny. He did some things whilst he was away for sure.” Another said: “Johnny putting the absolute fear into Linda here. Istg if he has anything to do with the missing weapon and is putting his mum through this preventable worry.”

A third fan posted: “He’s giving me weird vibes he’s definitely up to something and I don’t like it at all.” A fourth said: “Johnny isn’t all nicey nicey is he? He’s defo got some sort of ulterior motive,” while a fifth wrote: “I’m getting worried about him tbh!”
