EastEnders’ Jack Branning could be caught out after his attempts to help Denise Fox cover up her part in the murder of Keanu Taylor.

In the latest episode of the BBC soap viewers saw Jack walk in on Denise and Stacey Slater, who were trying to retrieve some evidence from the burial site of Keanu. Keanu had been buried under the floor of the café weeks ago, after being murdered by Linda Carter on Christmas Day.

She was trying to stop him from killing his partner Sharon Watts during a row, with Stacey, Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar and Denise witnessing the crime. They made a pact to cover it up and bury his body, while telling the police he had fled Walford on the run after attacking Nish Panesar.

But Denise was panicked when she realised her necklace had fallen into the grave which was concealed by cement. So when the floor caved in this week, Denise and Stacey took their moment to retrieve the necklace and remove her link to the crime.

Unfortunately for them, Jack walked in and saw them together and what they were about to do. Denise and Stacey were forced to confess everything to police detective Jack, leaving him reeling.

When Jack learned what his wife was caught up in and the evidence that needed to be removed in order to stop the police from snooping, he decided to help her. Going against his need to report the body and the crime, Jack knew he needed to get the necklace to stop Denise from being questioned if not sent to prison.

Jack ordered the women to leave and smashed the floor up himself, before managing to find the chain just in time. Bernadette Taylor and Alfie Moon were outside and trying to get in, so Jack had seconds to sneak out.

Of course it meant he had to leave the mess behind, while he took the items used with him. Bernadette walked in and saw the state of the floor, before coming across the body and screaming out.

Soon enough the police swarmed the area, as Jack fled back to find Denise and Stacey and told them he’d secured the necklace. They were grateful as he advised them on their next move, and agreed not to go to the police.

But will Jack end up regretting helping them and covering up the crime, and might he have left some evidence behind at the café? There’s every chance someone will be able to place Jack at the scene, and what’s to say he hasn’t left a clue behind to him being there and seeing the body – so might Jack end up being in as much trouble as The Six if it all comes out?
