BBC EastEnders shares update on missing character weeks after abrupt exit with big news

EastEnders viewers learned some big news, as a missing character made contact on the BBC soap.

In the latest episode on Monday night, fans finally heard from a soap icon who made an abrupt exit from Walford weeks ago without warning. No news has been revealed on her soap future, as fans await her comeback.

Sharon Watts fled Walford with her son Albie weeks after the secret murder of her partner Keanu Taylor. After she and The Six covered up his death at the hands of Linda Carter, they buried the body in the café and came up with a fake story about him being on the run.

But it all got too much for Sharon, and she soon fled weeks ago and has not returned since. No spoilers have detailed a confirmed comeback for the character, while she is said to be in Australia with pal Michelle Fowler, who is having an operation.

On Monday, Kathy Beale finally made contact with her pal as she too continued to hide the events of Christmas Day. But something Sharon said left Kathy stunned, with her soon reporting back to the rest of The Six.

Sharon has been quiet for weeks refusing to confirm when she will be back, with the others worried she will spill the beans. In the latest episode she called Kathy in a panic, revealing some news from the police about Keanu.

She was in quite a state, as she told Kathy that there were no new leads on missing Keanu and that they were closing his case as a missing person. Kathy tried to reassure her that this was good, as the lack of sightings of him left officers convinced he was on the run and would not be found.

Sharon clearly worried it would lead to suspicions he could be dead, and that their secret might come out. But Kathy soon told her and the others it was good news as there was nothing pointing to them, and they could move on with their lives.

The show has still yet to confirm Sharon’s return, but will she feel ready to go home now Keanu is no longer being searched for? It comes amid a new problem for the group, following Johnny Carter discovering the truth.

Johnny had found out that Linda still had the murder weapon, with her hiding the meat thermometer under her bed. Johnny vowed to get rid of it to make sure no clues led back to Linda, and as he gathered the women at the pub he dropped a bombshell.

As the episode came to an end, he revealed that after searching Linda’s bedroom he could not find the weapon. He told them that someone had taken it as it was no longer where Linda had left it, and he’d searched the entire room.

Declaring only the women in the room and Sharon knew its whereabouts, he questioned who had stolen it. Some fans are wondering if Sharon might have taken it before fleeing to Australia.
