Shona McGarty has finished filming on BBC soap EastEnders.

The actress stopped to take photos with fans on the set of the BBC soap this week when left the studios for the final time. She has played Whitney Dean for several years but she will exit the show in a few months’ time.

Whitney is expected to leave in scenes airing in June. Many thought she would leave to be with Bianca in Milton Keynes but she returned to Walford and it looks like she could welcome her and Zack’s baby before her exit.

Speaking about her departure previously, she shared: “It wasn’t an easy decision because I’ve made so many friends. I’ve seen people come and go, and meanwhile, Whitney has been one of the longest-standing characters.

“I’ve had so much fun and done so many storylines, some of which have been sensitive, and I’ve been honoured to be trusted with such heavy stuff year after year. So I’m going to be sad to say goodbye to my friends and family, but it was the right decision for me as I want to do other things. After 15 years, I’ve had a pretty good run!”

Bianca star Patsy Palmer returned to the soap for a brief stint as part of Whitney’s exit storyline. She had said: “I’m so excited to be reprising the role of Bianca. EastEnders holds such a special place in my heart so it’s always a pleasure to be back.”

Now her final episodes have been filmed, viewers of the soap are convinced they know how she’ll leave.

One fan wrote: “Wonder if Zack is going too, like how Mitch went with Karen. I can’t see how he stays on the square without his new child, especially since it means so much to him,” whilst a second added: “I get the impression this is because it’s not a completely final departure. I feel like the door has been left open so much that it’s already been decided that she will be back in a few years time. I felt the same about Sam/Kim Medcalf’s departure too. The character deserved so much more of a send off if she was going for good.”
