BBC EastEnders unveils new character for explosive Harvey Monroe storyline

Walford cabbie Harvey Monroe is set for a new storyline in upcoming EastEnders episodes and a new character, portrayed by Doctors star Bharti Patel, will rock up the Square.

Harvey Monroe will be thrown back into the spotlight as EastEnders bosses have confirmed he’ll be meeting someone new in Walford – but who is Maya and what does she want?

The cabbie portrayed by Ross Boatman was recently involved in Dean Wicks’ downfall as he was determined to get to the bottom of his vile deeds. At the time, the villain was plotting to damager his daughter Jade’s health but he was eventually thrown behind bars when he was framed for the murder of Keanu Taylor.

A new character is now set to settle in Walford and will be sparking an unlikely friendship with Harvey in scenes due to air next week on BBC One.

While he’s been closely involved in recent Walford drama, Harvey will be seeing feeling lonely next week which comes as no surprise after his pals Mitch Baker and Rocky Cotton have both left the fictional London borough.

The former fled the Square alongside Karen Taylor and their family for a fresh start in Spain. Meanwhile, Rocky was thrown under the bus for setting fire to his wife Kathy Beale’s café last year – a move made by the Six who had realised he was slowly rumbling their involvement in Keanu’s death.

Jean Slater (played by Gillian Wright) will encourage her beau to make new friends, leading Harvey to first bump into Maya as the week continues. Upon their first encounter, Harvey will take her cab fare and help her before connecting with her over being big fans of football team Tottenham Hotspur – but could their blossoming friendship lead to more trouble for the cab driver?

Soap bosses have already announced that villainous Nish Panesar, portrayed by Navin Chowdhry, will come back to the London-based program with bombshell news to share and his son Ravi Gulati will be particularly impacted. Fans have recently shared their disappointment as they have noticed his ex-wife Suki Panesar’s absence – how will she react to Nish’s return?

In more recent episodes, Whitney Dean’s wedding descended into chaos during Monday’s trip to Albert Square (May 20, 2024) as she was finally told about Lauren Branning and Zack Hudson’s fling by adoptive daughter Britney. The fan favourite recently gave birth to her first child in dramatic scenes and welcomed a baby girl named Dolly.

Viewers of the long-running program have been desperate to find out if Whitney will get her happy ending after 15 tormented years. The market trader has often been met with tragedy during her time in Walford, the latest being the death of her daughter Peach. Will her exit storyline end in tears?
