Just weeks after his EastEnders return was confirmed, it has been announced that Bobby Brazier will be taking on a new role in Paramount+ drama Curfew.

The Freddie Slater star, 20, is currently on a break from the BBC One soap.

His new role will see him appear alongside some Walford legends – Anita Dobson, Lucy Benjamin and Larry Lamb, who played Angie Watts, Lisa Fowler and Archie Mitchell.

Curfew, which began filming at the beginning of this year, is an adaptation of Jayne Cowie’s novel After Dark.

The series follows a society governed by ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, where men are tracked by ankle tags and have a 7pm curfew every evening – but when a woman is brutally murdered after hours, a police officer tries in vain to prove one of her fellow females wasn’t responsible.

Bobby will play James, a vocal schoolboy who is strongly against the rules imposed on their community.

Lucy Benjamin is DCI Sue Ferguson, one of the policing team overseeing the investigation and Larry Lamb stars as Rhys Holden, a man who arrives in the UK from America and struggles to live under the restrictions.

Anita Dobson will appear as Janet, a woman who runs a refuge for women who don’t want to cohabit with men.

It also sounds very Nineteen Eighty-Four to us!

Fellow soap stars Mandip Gill (Phoebe McQueen, Hollyoaks) and James Craven (Aaron Sandford, Coronation Street) have also signed onto the project.

What this means for Bobby’s role in EastEnders remains to be seen, though it’s likely he’s fitted in the filming following his Strictly Come Dancing stint and subsequent nationwide tour.

His character Freddie Slater is currently visiting his mum Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth) off screen, but will return with Big Mo (Laila Morse) in tow.

The two will also star in a TikTok spin-off series that will follow their time living in Mo’s caravan, prior to their return to Albert Square.
