Bobby Brazier has joked that he will never be returning to The One Show ever again after suffering an awkward snub at the hands of host Alex Jones.

Joined by Australian actress Rebel Wilson on the sofa, the EastEnders actor and Strictly star sat down to chat to Alex, 47, and co-host Jermaine Jenas, 41, ahead of his Soccer Aid appearance. And BBC viewers loved the banter between Rebel and Bobby, with the soap star insisting the Hollywood actress come and watch him at the game.

“You were saying in the break, Bobby, that you haven’t even been training,” she pointed out. However, Bobby retorted: “No, but I wil if you come and watch me! You’ll be my motivation.”

During the latest instalment, actor Bobby, 20, also spoke about his return to Albert Square as Freddie Slater, where he will return with Big Mo. The characters were recently confirmed to be returning in the coming weeks, months on from Freddie’s exit and more than a year since Big Mo appeared in Walford.

Reading out viewers’ reactions to the interviews, Jermaine said: “We’ve got time for a couple of messages. So these are for you Rebel – Faye says, ‘I love Rebel Wilson, what a lovely and down-to-earth lady she is. She is very beautiful too.”

Confused, Rebel asked: “Is that a question, or just a comment…” Alex replied: “Just a statement of love.” Turning to the camera, Rebel blew a kiss as she said: “Can I say, I love you!”

“There are tons of them here,” Alex said. “But we’re out of time.” Astonished he didn’t get a comment or question, Bobby held out his hands and said: “Oh, come on!” Jermaine and Alex laughed it off, with the latter saying that people “love this combo”.

Sharing a clip of the moment with a crying laughing emoji, Bobby wrote: “Liberty mate never doing The One Show again.”

Alex was also earlier forced to apologise to Bobby after making a mistake during his intro. Introducing Bobby, she said: “In a moment, we’ll be joined by Bobby Brazier as his character, Freddie Mitchell, gets ready to return to Albert Square. But first, let’s look at his story so far…” However, after the video montage played, Bobby was quick to point out Alex’s blunder, saying he’s Freddie Slater not Freddie Mitchell.

Bobby said: “By the way, by the way, it’s Freddie Slater not Freddie Mitchell! Freddie Mitchell doesn’t exist, who is that?” with Alex quickly adding: “Well, now, that is an error, isn’t it? A big apology Bobby!” to which Bobby quipped: “Come on now!”

After the awkward start, Bobby then teased his return to EastEnders, where he joked about learning his lines to which Jermaine Jenas quipped about not learning his lines with Alex, saying: “We do that, all the time!” with Bobby pointing out: “Yeah, I mean, Freddie Mitchell!” with Alex replying: “You know what I mean!”
