Chilling EastEnders theory teases danger for loved resident as Reiss’ dark past ‘rumbled’

EastEnders viewers believe they have worked out a secret from Reiss Colwell’s past, and it could mean danger is ahead for one resident.

A fan favourite could be in grave peril if viewers are correct, with Reiss thought to be hiding a dark secret. Viewers know that Reiss began a romance with Sonia Fowler last year while it soon came out he was married.

But Reiss confirmed the heartbreaking news that his wife Debbie was in a coma and had been for some time, after suffering a stroke. Debbie was looked after in a care home until her recent death, with shocking scenes appearing to show Reiss killing her amid spiralling debts.

In the fallout he’s covered his tracks, but his killer actions and a comment by a new character in a recent episode has left fans wondering if a secret from his past has been uncovered. With it clear he’s not the good guy he has claimed to be, perhaps this isn’t the first time he’s acted in this way.

Reiss claimed Debbie had had a stroke while in the bath, and by the time he realised she was in danger he could not help her. Unable to give her the full-time care she needed, he agreed for Debbie to be moved to a care home.

But given recent events and Debbie’s mother Brenda talking about Reiss having “no light”, with her hinting at his dark side and the fact Debbie apparently wanted to leave him prior to her stroke, some fans now believe there is more to what happened to her. One theory is that Reiss may have tried to drown his wife before or even after her stroke, leading to her health decline.

Others wondered if it was something that he did that led to her health incident. One viewer posted on social media: “Looks like she wanted out and he knew it, maybe he tried to drown her and brought on a stroke.”

Viewers were under the belief that Debbie was about to leave Reiss and he took revenge, so could he really have done something to her? And is more about to come out about the character and his past? If so, Sonia could be in danger.

Sonia has backed Reiss against Walford residents over everything, while also calling him out. But if Sonia decides enough is enough and plans to end things with Reiss, might she find herself in danger if Reiss really did target his wife?
