COMIC Bobby Davro has returned to stand-up after he collapsed from a stroke on stage.
The ex-EastEnders star got a standing ovation from a cheering crowd as he performed at radio legend James Whale‘s MBE celebration.
Bobby bravely told the star-studded audience about suffering from a bout of ill health months after losing his beloved fiancée Vicky Wright, 63, from pancreatic cancer.
The ex-EastEnders star – who played Vinnie Monks on the BBC soap – had just come off stage following a standing ovation at a sell-out gig.
He suffered what he described as a “funny turn” at the Coulsdon Comedy club, South London, in January.
After a brief stint laid up at home, the 65-year-old is back fighting fit – and was applauded by fans at Langan’s Brasserie in Mayfair last night.
Hundreds turned out for the £80,000 party for James, which was generously thrown by businessman Charlie Mullins and organised by pals Chuck Thomas and Andre Walker.
A whole host of stars turned out in honour of TalkTV star James who yesterday received an MBE from Princess Anne.
Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo, radio star Chris Moyles and singer Matt Goss were among the big names on the guest list.
Nigel Farage, Jeremy Kyle, Sue Pollard, Mike Graham, Kevin O’Sullivan all delivered hysterical roasts as they paid tribute to James and his 50-year career in the industry.
Funnyman Bobby — who rose to fame in the 1980s — had the whole room up on their feet as he proved he was back to best with a run of thigh-slappers.
Bobby has faced a tough 12 months following the death of his other half Vicky.
He proposed to her the day before she started chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.
Bobby said: “I have to forgive the universe for taking her away from me, but the engagement was one of the best days of her life.”
And the comic, who split from his wife of ten years Trudi Jameson in 2003, admitted: “I never wanted to marry again after getting divorced.
“The fact that I hadn’t proposed caused us problems.
“So people said to me, ‘You’re only doing it for her’.
“But I was doing it for both of us.
“She was the love of my life.
“I could never have lived with myself if I hadn’t.”
