Danny Dyer has offered mental health support to former EastEnders co-star Max Bowden with a kind gift.

Ben Mitchell actor Max took to Instagram to recommend a book he had been introduced to by Danny, who played Mick Carter in the BBC soap until 2022.

‘Have a blessed day of light all,’ he wrote, before adding, ‘Anybody struggling with intrusive thoughts, or trying to limit internal stress – I’d recommend this massively.’

He then went on to thank Danny, alongside a picture of the Mindfulness Pocketbook by Gill Hasson.

Recently, Max has been open on social media about his struggle with grief.

The actor, who lost a number of friends in 2021, including best mate Maxwell, was recently asked by poet Hussain Manawer to read out one of his poems to camera, titled ‘You May Have Died, But You Are Still Alive’

He penned: ‘This comes in the wake of a personal journey of self love and acceptance in my latter stages of grief, navigating a new outlook for what has happened and the profound effect it’s had on me and my everyday life.

‘For a long time I felt unable to cope with the pain and relentless anger I felt towards the world in the wake of so much loss, well documented publicly. I now feel it’s time for me to open honest, frank, accepting conversation about the human experience of grief through discussion and art.’

Max continued: ‘I’d love to hear how anybody is dealing with grief personally right now be it positively or negatively in the comments, so we can somehow create a world in which we aid the majority.

‘In the meantime, listen to the beauty of these words from a true wordsmith, and remember, this too shall pass.’

Max is set to exit EastEnders in the coming months after a five year stint as Ben, though details of his exit have so far been kept under wraps.

An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the exit to Metro.co.uk, saying: ‘Max will be leaving EastEnders next year. We wish him all the best for the future.’
