The Panesar family got a huge shock in recent EastEnders scenes when Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) revealed that he was dying.
Although they didn’t believe him at first, after he was rushed to hospital they realised just how bad his prognosis was, when the doctor confirmed that he may not live long enough to get the heart transplant he desperately needed.
When the family agreed that Nish’s condition changed nothing about the way they felt about him, Avani Nandra-Hart and Nugget Gulati (Aaliyah James and Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) were left devastated.
Determined to fight Nish’s corner, Avani and Nugget sat Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) down to try and convince him that Nish deserved a second chance.
As Avani pointed out that she had never had a stable family unit, Nugget pointed out that Ravi had done bad things in his life, but Nugget would never dream of abandoning him in his dying days.
At the hospital, Nish was thrilled when Avani and Nugget arrived just in time for his appointment, with Ravi reluctantly trailing behind.
When the trio arrived back to Albert Square with Nish in tow, Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) was horrified, and left Nugget and Avani offended when he accused Ravi of sucking up to Nish for his inheritance.
Earlier this week, Nish announced that he was going to leave all of his assets to the Gurdwara and cut his family out of his will entirely after they refused to accept him back into the fold.
Ravi denied that that was what he was doing, and soon Vinny had also agreed to give Nish another chance.
As the pair met for drinks in the Queen Vic, Nish expressed his gratitude to Vinny for giving him a second chance – though the mood soon turned sour when Eve Unwin and Suki Panesar (Heather Peace and Balvinder Sopal) arrived.
Eve couldn’t believe that Vinny could suddenly be so accepting of Nish after everything he’d done, while Suki accused him of being desperate to get his hands on Nish’s inheritance.
Poor Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) walked straight into the crossfire, when she arrived and was accused of exactly the same thing.
However, it would later transpire that Suki had given an Oscar-worthy performance in the pub, as Vinny’s actions had all been part of a bigger plan they had concocted together.
As Vinny reported back on how things had gone, Suki insisted that he shouldn’t stop until Nish had changed his will and left all the businesses to Vinny, pointing out that they were rightfully theirs.
Will their plan be successful, or will Nish smell a rat?
