EastEnders’ Sharon Watts was arrested for Keanu Taylor’s murder in emotional scenes during the latest trip to Walford (April 4). Keanu (played by Danny Walters) was stabbed to death by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) on Christmas Day in The Queen Vic, and was helped by the rest of The Six to bury the body.

Bernie was with Alfie Moon when the the café floor collapsed and she found the rotting corpse, but initially had no idea it was her big brother’s body. In tonight’s episode, police informed Bernie that the body was that of Keanu’s, leaving her flabbergasted.

Police then paid Sharon (Letitia Dean) a visit to give her the bad news, she reacted with shocked expression before crying and declaring her love for Keanu – as if she didn’t already know about his grim death.

As the police were leaving Sharon’s house, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) made a surprise appearance. She told Sharon to act as if she really did just find out Keanu is dead and pointed out that she should pay Bernie a visit.

In an emotional scene, Bernie broke down as she tried to understand why anyone would want to kill Keanu as Sharon looked on devastated. Of course, Keanu was stabbed by Linda to stop him from strangling Sharon to death on their doomed wedding day.

Sharon tried to reassure Bernie that she could still be her big sister, and would look out for her. The conversation the turned to Karen Taylor who was yet to find out the heart-breaking news that her eldest son is dead.

But Sharon touched on her own experience of losing a son and encouraged her to let Karen have a few more hours of happiness before her world shatters. Sharon’s hidden agenda to leave Karen in the dark is because she was worried Karen would tell the police her suspicions that Sharon was involved in Keanu’s disappearance.

Later, Felix Baker (Matthew Morrison) overheard Bernie listening to Keanu’s last voice note from Christmas Day, frantically telling Karen that Sharon was messing with his head. Suspicious that she had something to do with it, Felix urged Bernie to show the message to police.

As Sharon arrived home from collecting Albie from nursery she was left shocked when the detective revealed that he had received new evidence that suggested Keanu was going to take Albie out of the country. Given that Sharon and Keanu were in a bad place before his disappearance, it gave her the motive for his murder.

Sharon was horrified as the detective arrested her for murder, and she was soon pleading her innocence to Bernie. She also called out to brother Zack Hudson (James Farrar) to shield Albie from seeing her getting arrested.

As guilty Linda watched on, Bernie was seen crying as she issued a chilling threat, promising Sharon that she would get what’s coming to her. Sharon was then driven away in a police car – is this the end of Sharon?

EastEnders continues on Monday, April 8, at 7:30pm on BBC One.
