EastEnders announces extended episode for George Knight special packed with traumatic flashbacks

George finally finds out what really happened to his birth father.

The character – played by Colin Salmon – got a huge shock a few weeks ago when his adoptive parents Eddie and Gloria arrived in Walford.

George was left dumbfounded after the couple revealed they had lied about his origins, and that they had obtained him through ‘baby farming‘, which was relatively common at the time.

George had always believed he was of Caribbean descent, but it turned out he is actually of Ghanaian heritage.

Despite tensions with his dad Eddie – who EastEnders viewers instantly took a dislike to due to his ‘racist’ comments – George was able to make amends with his parents after a second visit.

But as they left, it was revealed they still hadn’t told him the full truth about his childhood.

And next week, George and his family head to his parents to see Eddie receive an award for championing diversity.

However, the Wednesday, February 14 episode will be a longer episode as George soon discovers that again, all is not as it seems about his parents.

In fact, he is left horrified to discover his dad is awaiting trial for racially aggravated murder, and he has been trying to manipulate George into being his star witness.

George instantly rejects his parents, despite Gloria’s pleas, and the episode will explore even more bombshells for the Queen Vic landlord.

The episode will air at 7.30pm but will be extended to 34 minutes to allow more time to explore the storyline.

The news marks a further shake up for the show, after tonight’s episode was pushed back in the schedules due to the football.

Plymouth Argyle’s FA Cup replay against Leeds United sees coverage begin at 7.30pm, the time when EastEnders would normally air.

The sporting coverage means tonight’s episode will now air on Wednesday at 7.30pm, with the remaining episodes for the week hitting screens on Thursday and Friday instead.

However, the episode that should have been on tonight – and that will air on Wednesday – is already available on BBC iPlayer as an early release.

Some EastEnders fans have watched it, but possibly wish they hadn’t after noticing a gross moment in a scene at McKlunkey’s.
