The EastEnders star Brian Conley spilled the beans about returning to the BBC One soap! Brain played the fan favourite Thomas “Rocky” Cotton on EastEnders from 2021 to 2023. It’s no secret that poor Rocky didn’t have it easy on the soap. Moreover, things went south for him when he started suspecting The Six, and he had to go. EastEnders: Rocky Opens Up His Comeback on EastEnders!
Thomas “Rocky” Cotton found himself in a real pickle when everyone left him alone on Christmas. Moreover, Cotton made matters worse by catching Sharon’s shady moves and smelling a rat. Kathy saw no remorse and turned him to the cops for torching the cafe. And just like that, poof! He disappeared from EastEnders.
Conley talked about his return to Swindon Advertiser and seemed glad for not being killed off. “I am in prison so I haven’t died and that’s a nice thought.” Added, “I could get off with good behaviour.” Additionally, Brian expressed that being on EastEnders was “nerve-wracking at first because the show is so iconic.” However, he admitted to holding “very fond memories.” Plus, he joked about working hard on the accent.
Nevertheless, Conley confirmed he is not joining the soap anytime soon as he wants to pursue other things. “It was my choice to leave because you are very restricted as you can’t really do anything else.” He explained, “I wanted a break from that.” In addition, Brian expressed that the crew was supportive, and he cherished his three-year journey.
The EastEnders alum also praised his co-stars. “I remember Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler, telling me that they had all been in my shoes,” he said. So, they know what it is like to come into the show. Brain added, “You are bouncing off and having scenes with iconic characters like Phil Mitchell and being threatened by these characters.” He thought, “Oh my god, I’m in EastEnders, especially when in the iconic Vic and Albert Square.”
