Another EastEnders character is set to return to our screens in the coming days, and she brings trouble for show icon Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).
Whitney first crossed paths with Keeley Wainwright (Kirsty J Curtis) when she confronted her over her treatment of daughter Britney (Lola Campbell) during her trip to Milton Keynes.
Keeley soon offered Whitney the chance to take Britney off her hands, and Whitney later revealed to a stunned Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) that she’d accepted her offer.
In upcoming scenes, Whitney gets quite the scare when Britney is involved in a bike accident and is rushed to A&E.
She gets further shocking news when doctors reveal that Britney has a rare genetic condition called Usher Syndrome, which will lead to her losing her sight as well as her hearing.
As Whitney researches the condition, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) worries that it may be too much pressure for her in her current condition.
After sending Britney off for her first day of school, Zack suggests to Whitney that they get her signed up with a local GP in order to discuss her condition.
Panicking that the truth about Britney’s ‘fostering’ may be exposed, Whitney lies and insists that she has already registered her.
Later, Whitney tries to persuade local nurse Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) to bypass the checks required to get Britney signed up, but she is soon left with no choice but to haul Keeley in to register her herself.
Things only get worse for Whitney from there, when she misses an appointment for a baby scan after being called in to Walford High when Britney’s hearing aids stop working.
This soon leads to an argument between her and Zack, and the tension continues to build when Lauren later pulls Whitney aside at a dinner party, insisting that she must tell Zack the truth before she does.
The next day, Lauren is persistent, but Whitney begs her for a few more days.
Unfortunately, Zack overhears the pair exchanging tense words, and soon demands answers. When Whitney covers, Lauren is left seething.
Is Zack set to find out the truth?
