Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) got the shock of her life when former love interest Ayesha (Laila Rouass) walked into Walford East in recent scenes.

It soon transpired that Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) had invited her for his own selfish gain, in the hopes of earning her forgiveness.

Ayesha was married to a man called Hardeep over 20 years ago, and the couple lived next door to Suki and Nish.

When Nish grew suspicious of how much time Suki was spending at their house, he jumped to conclusions and accused her of having an affair with Hardeep.

In his jealousy, he murdered Hardeep, and ended up serving a 20 year prison stretch.

Little did he know, it was actually Ayesha that Suki was going round to see, as she had feelings for her.

In the years since, Suki has come to accept that she is a lesbian, and has settled into a loving relationship with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) in recent months.

When she sat down for a conversation with Ayesha, she was stunned to learn that she too was an out lesbian, and even ran an organisation for LGTBQ+ Sikhs.

During their conversation, Suki painfully revealed the true reason Nish had murdered Hardeep, and explained how she had blamed herself because she hadn’t corrected him over his accusations.

However, Ayesha insisted that it was no one’s fault but Nish’s, and soon headed back to Walford East to tell him just that.

She made it very clear to him that she wasn’t prepared to forgive him and that she wanted him to remember Hardeep and what he took from the world by killing him as he took his dying breath.

She also made it very clear that she didn’t blame Suki, so his plan had failed.

Determined to have the last laugh, Nish changed tactics and later headed to the Vic where Eve was getting a round of drinks in for Suki and Ayesha.

Nish was quick to start stirring, referring to Ayesha as Suki’s first love, and making it clear to Eve that she had competition.

Though Eve seemed rattled, will this be enough to threaten their relationship? Has Nish won once and for all?
