In tonight’s episode, Kat told Phil they both needed to move on after she decided to move in with ex-husband Alfie Moon, as friends.

Kat has taken the kids with her to live with Alfie, and Phil’s nose was clearly put out of joint when his ex jibed that no one wanted to live with him in his “big old castle”.

Later, he overheard Denise talking to Stacey Slater moments after she had turned down husband Jack’s offer to return home.

Denise is currently living with Bernie Taylor – not ideal considering her part in her brother Keanu’s death on Christmas Day – and Stacey advised Denise that moving back in with Jack may not be a bad idea.

But Phil then interrupted and said there was another option, before they were seen back at his house in the kitchen.

The pair share son Raymond together after having a fling back in 2016 when they were both struggling with alcohol dependency.

Phil told Denise: “You said it yourself, Bernie’s grieving, that can’t be a lot of fun for Raymond.”

Listen I wanna be a dad to Albie, but I can’t because Zack’s all over it. I just had a call with Louise and said that Keanu died, she just hung up on me. All I can do for Ben is wait for his sentencing, I just want the chance to be a dad, please Denise, give me a chance.

“It would be good for Raymond as well wouldn’t it? To get to know me better.”

Denise agreed on the grounds that she would pay him rent and buy and cook her own food for her and Raymond.

Phil nodded and said they were “just mates” but she told him: “We’re not mates, and this ain’t a family Phil. It’s temporary.”

EastEnders fans were taken aback by the surprise reunion, with one writing on X: “Denise moving in with Phil is something I didn’t see coming but here we are.”

Another added: “I see Phil the stud is back. Making a move on Denise the old Devil.”

A third tweeted: “So Phil wants Raymond as a last resort son.”

Meanwhile a fourth wrote: “Phil is ready to be dad of the year for Albie where was that energy for Raymond ? I guess it’s more out of care for Sharon given she’s the love of his life.”
