‘EastEnders’ Dean Wicks needs to pay for what he did to Linda Carter – but this isn’t the way’

Dean Wicks looks set to be locked up for a very long time after he was arrested this evening on EastEnders.
Tonight’s episode of the BBC soap saw Linda tell the police a fabricated story about Dean and his potential involvement in the death of Keanu. However, viewers will know that Keanu was actually killed by Linda, who stabbed him with a meat thermometer when he tried to attack her best friend Sharon Watts on Christmas Day after their failed wedding.
This evening, Linda found herself questioned by the police on why she held back that information originally, whilst back in the Square, the police were busy arresting Dean for Keanu’s murder. During their search of Dean’s flat, they found the murder weapon which was planted there by Stacey just a few days ago when she made a surprise appearance at his flat
As Johnny arrived home with Sharon, much to the joy of the others, I can’t help thinking this isn’t the way it should have played out.
Dean Wicks – played by Matt di Angelo – is one of soap’s most notoriously unlikable characters and rightly so. Ever since his arrival, he’s been nothing but trouble, but what initially started out as bad behaviour turned to one of the most heinous crimes including rape.

And it looks like this Six storyline – which was 10 months in the making – will wrap up with Dean’s conviction for Keanu’s death. As much as I want to see Dean get his comeuppance for the harrowing crimes he has carried out, I just feel really disappointed that this is seemingly how The Six storyline will end after months of anticipation. Dean deserves to be punished for his crimes, but framing him for this isn’t justice. He needs to be held responsible for what he’s done to Linda and all the other crimes he’s committed.
Of course, it leaves a great storyline still bubbling in the background – because if Dean ends up in prison for this, he could return in a few months or years with a vendetta with all The Six for putting him in jail. However, part of me was suspecting the body might not be found under the café for at least several months – just as things were getting back to “normal” for The Six.
As a TV writer, The Six storyline dominated my entire work life from February 2023 to Christmas 2023 and even now, but with the body being found, for me, it draws a disappointing close to The Six storyline – for now at least.
