EastEnders exit ‘sealed’ for beloved character – but fans say ‘it’s a slap in the face’

SPOILER: EastEnders’ Harvey Monroe, played by Ross Boatman, has found himself in a spot of drama on the soap - now fans reckon the beloved character could be making a shock exit

EastEnders fans reckon an exit is on the cards for a beloved Walford resident.

Over in the soap recently, Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) befriended mysterious newcomer Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel). The pair struck up a friendship over their love of Tottenham Hotspurs.

As they became good pals, the cab driver started lending money to struggling Maya, who claimed she was a widow, as she shared her money worries with him. But plenty of fans had their suspicions about Maya.

And this week, the truth was finally revealed in episodes available to watch on BBC iPlayer. After tracking down Maya’s real home address, Harvey was shocked to find a distressed man wearing an eyepatch inside the house.

Soap fans will recall that Aaron was a member of a dangerous far-right gang a few years ago. The group targeted a number of people in horrific racially motivated attacks.

When Maya’s husband Abdul was attacked, Harvey gave Aaron an alibi, meaning that the thug got away with the disgusting crime. Haunted by his past actions, Harvey came clean to Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

Now, fans fear that Harvey will fess up to making a fake alibi – meaning he could be getting sent to prison in a shock twist.

Fans fear a prison exit is on the cards for Harvey

Over on an EastEnders fan forum page, one person mused: “Is Harvey leaving? Having him confess and receive a jail term for perverting the course of justice would be an easy exit.”

Someone else replied: “I hope he doesn’t get a jail term. It’d be incredibly unsatisfying knowing that likeable characters like he and Rocky are in prison, whilst people like Karen (and many others!) are allowed to get away with their crimes.”

A third chimed in: “There are far worse characters than Harvey to get rid of, would be a slap in the face if this is his exit story.” A fourth added: “Why is it I have a feeling we’re getting a surprise departure from Harvey either tomorrow or next week?

“Just double checked and we’re coming up to the three year anniversary of his debut in a couple of weeks, so this feels like the end of a contract.”
