EastEnders fans ‘skin crawl’ as they ‘work out’ Pastor Clayton’s ‘really dark’ secret
EastEnders fans are not keen on Pastor Clayton following his vile behaviour towards Yolande - but now, viewers reckon they have worked out his “secret” - and it’s not looking good
EastEnders viewers are certain they have rumbled Pastor Clayton’s secret – and it’s “really dark”.
The character, played by Howard Saddler, rocked up to Walford in December last year as the square’s local church leader. At first, fans thought he and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) would strike up some sort of romance.
But recently, he has been embroiled in a big storyline that has seen him sexually assault Yolande. And viewers are convinced it’s only going to get worse.
After meeting at the community centre, rumours started to swirl recently that Yolande and the Pastor’s relationship was more than just friends.
However, Yolande was forced to shut down the gossip and lashed out at ringleader Agatha. Afterwards, The Pastor assured her that there wasn’t anything to worry about. But things took a stomach-churning turn when Clayton pulled Yolande in for an embrace.
However, he slowly moved his hands to the base of her back. Yolande was stunned at the Pastor – and was too shaken to stay anything.
Later on, he then placed his hand on her thigh but when she questioned his motives, he claimed that she was misreading the situation. Gaslighting her, the Pastor then fumed at Yolande for calling him out on his actions.
“And poor Yolande will be forced to apologised, only it’s the other way round. The fact that Pastor Gideon Clayton’s hand went down to her bottom, made my skin crawl. It was awful to see.”
Now, fans are fearing that it will only get worse for soap icon Yolande. On a Reddit Thread, one EastEnders fan mused: “I’m really worried they’re going to take that storyline to a very dark place for Yolande, he makes me so nervous don’t like him at all.”
A second added: “He is starting to become a creep and is putting Yolande in the firing line, the poor woman. I think the EastEnders writers are highlighting sexual harassment.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, some fans have mused how he could have a secret agenda. One fan mused: “Convinced Pastor Clayton is going to turn into a serial killer.
While other viewers claim he could blackmail Yolande or ruin her reputation. The fan posted: “I think he’ll either blackmail her into doing what he wants or publicly trash her reputation. Probably the latter.”
What’s more, one fan on an EastEnders Facebook fan page mused: “Maybe there to steal the proceeds from the charity?” Someone replied: “I’ve been saying this for ages, something doesn’t sit right.”
