EastEnders fans ‘wouldn’t look twice’ at star – but in real life he’s ‘serious eye candy’
EastEnders’ Jonny Freeman plays Reiss Colwell on the BBC One soap - but his appearance in real life has left fans swooning with one saying “it doesn’t even look like the same man”
EastEnders fans have been left in a frenzy after realising what the Reiss Colwell actor looks like in real life.
Jonny Freeman plays the soap character – making his first appearance in 2022. As the late Dot Branning’s great-nephew, Reiss quickly got settled into life on the square.
He also started a relationship with soap legend Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy). The pair were desperate to have a child but faced several hurdles – including Reiss’ infertility.
What’s more, in a tragic twist it was revealed last year that Reiss’ wife was hospitalised in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke in the bath. At first, Sonia was taken aback by dating a technically married man.
The couple were dealt a blow though, when a nurse warned Sonia her womb lining was thinner than ideal. However, Sonia later found out she was pregnant. After taking a test and, in emotional scenes, she told Reiss in the Queen Vic the happy baby news.
But in a heartbreaking twist, during Thursday’s episode (May 6), Sonia was rushed to hospital after she started bleeding – and was told she wasn’t actually pregnant.
Fans of the show have since been left stunned and wowed by Jonny’s chiseled good looks in unearthed snaps. In pictures posted on social media, Jonny looks totally different with a trimmed and neatly groomed beard.
Rushing to the comments section, one person said: “They do him up well.. state of him in EastEnders wouldn’t look twice to him. In real life defo would.”
A second gushed: “Can’f believe how sexy he looks in real life he doesn’t look like the same guy.” A third penned: “Omg he’s gorgeous! Looks so different with no glasses, and beard! Wow.”
Someone else chimed in and proclaimed: “Wow he’s a looker.” A fifth echoed their thoughts and penned: “Doesn’t even look like same man.”
Things took a heartbreaking turn for Reiss and Sonia last week on the soap. At hospital, a doctor explained to the couple: “I’m afraid there’s no embryo. It’s called a blighted ovum where it attaches to the uterus but doesn’t develop into an embryo.”
