THE mystery woman tracked George down at the Queen Vic

EASTENDERS’ George Knight has made a devastating discovery about his birth family tonight.

The retired boxer – who is played by actor Colin Salmon in the BBC soap – thought he had lost all hope of finding his birth family after his adopted family claimed to have no knowledge of her.

But as George began to drown his sorrows at the Vic, the woman appeared and revealed she isn’t his mother.

“I’m not your mum George,” she said before dropping a heartbreaking bombshell on him.

Telling him all about his mum, how she was a nurse, calling her a “force of nature”, she revealed that she had been forced to foster him out.

“George… your mum died four months ago,” she added.

“She was sick for a long time. She battled but she passed away. It wasn’t long after they found your dad’s body. I think the shock, the guilt, it took the fight out of her.”

She explained how George’s parents had settled back in Ghana but weren’t allowed back to the UK to collect him and it took years of court battles for his dad to go and get him.

But when he didn’t return, she contacted Eddie who told her that George was taken by his dad and so she assumed he had left her for a new life.

“She was heartbroken for herself and for your brothers,” the woman told George.

“Your mother had a big heart and they wanted a big family, and their big brother home.”

It was too much for George to take in.

He asked her to leave, but before he asked if she thought his mum would’ve liked him.

“She wouldn’t have liked you,” she told him.

“She would’ve loved you. And she would’ve been so proud. She would’ve tried to jump in that ring and fought for you in fact.

“It might have hurt too much to talk about you but I remember she told me once, ‘Wherever he is, I hope he’s happy. Because wherever he is he will always be my Kwame’.

“She never lost her hope, I hope you can find yours one day George.”
