EastEnders heartbreak as character collapses
EastEnders fans were left stunned as George Knight’s mum Gloria collapsed during his dad Eddie’s trial - but some viewers are convinced that Eddie had something to do with it
EastEnders fans are certain Gloria Knight didn’t collapse from a heart attack – as they ‘work out’ that Eddie had something to do with it.
The character played by Elizabeth Counsell, rocked up to the square at the start of the year with husband Eddie (Christopher Fairbank). Gloria and Eddie are the adoptive parents of Queen Vic owner George (Colin Salmon).
It was revealed that Eddie and Gloria bought George as a youngster through a process known as baby farming back in the day. This is when children were illegally sold to couples by their biological parents.
George’s world was then turned upside down even more when he found out Eddie had been accused of murder and needed George for a character reference. And in a shocking turn of events, it was then revealed that Eddie had killed George’s birth father, Henry Kofi Asare.
During Wednesday episode (April 9) of the BBC soap it was Eddie’s trial for the murder of George’s birth father. At first, George wasn’t planning to attend – but Gloria urged him to give evidence against him.He later showed up at the court and and was cross-examined by Eddie’s defence. However things took a dramatic turn and Gloria ended up shouting out from the gallery.
Later on, Eddie was fuming at Gloria getting involved. And during a break from the trial, Gloria followed Eddie out of the courtroom when suddenly she collapsed on the floor.
It seems some fans think a heart attack caused her to collapse – but other fans predict a big twist. On a Facebook fan page, one fan mused: “Gloria walked out with Eddie but was nowhere to be seen.
“I hope he hasn’t done something to hurt her.” Someone else chimed in on the platform and added: “I reckon Gloria’s boiled sweets were POISONED!!”
A third mused: “Why do I think Eddie had something to do with that?” Someone on X also wrote: “Did Eddie actually go through with his threat and actually do something to her?” A second said: “Eddie’s attacked Gloria. What The ?”
While on a Reddit thread, another fan mused: “Yeah that was really weird, it wasn’t even a second after she left the room. No one heard or saw anything, and Eddie has just completely disappeared. All in the space of one second? And why did no one from the court room come to help when they heard shouting?
The same user went on: “The door was wide open?? I kind of knew Gloria was going to be attacked by Eddie in some way after she said she was proud of George.”
