Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has confirmed her return to acting with a cameo in an upcoming new series starring Danny Dyer.

The actress, who portrayed Heather Trott on the BBC One soap, took to social media to notify her followers about Mr Bigstuff, a new six part comedy series which will hit screens later this year.

The Sky original, which deals with fragile masculinity and broken families, is one of several projects that Danny Dyer has took part in since his departure from EastEnders.

The 46-year-old starred as Mick Carter for nine years.

Mick, as soap fans will recall, vanished at sea over the Christmas in 2022 when trying to rescue his one true love Linda (Kellie Bright) from the treacherous waves after a pregnant Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) drove them into the water.

Mick, under Linda’s instruction, saved Janine and their unborn child first before returning to the ocean to retrieve his L, unaware of the fact that she had safely made it to shore.

In the wake of his Walford exit, Danny has starred in a variety of projects, including a follow up to Football Factory entitled Marching Powder.

Mr Bigstuff, which also stars Doctor Who and Plebs star Ryan Samson, will hit screens in July and Cheryl told her fans to expect an appearance from her.

‘Filmed a little cameo guest role end of last year for this coming out on @skytv in July,’ she wrote. ‘Fun filming with great cast.’

Cheryl portrayed Heather in EastEnders between 2007 and 2012, with her character killed off the year prior to Danny’s debut – meaning that Hev and Mick never crossed paths on-screen.

Cheryl recently revealed that she thought she was going to die after being diagnosed with stage 2 womb cancer in 2015.

Eight years on, she feels empowered to tell her story to inspire others.

‘There were some dark moments, especially at night, when I thought, “Am I going to die? Am I going to leave my husband without a wife, my son without a mum?”,’ she told OK! Magazine.

‘But the time is right to talk about it all now. I’m hoping my story might empower other women.’
