Former EastEnders actor Tony Discipline has made a comeback to the soap world.

The star first gained recognition for his role as Tyler Moon on the popular BBC One soap, EastEnders. He arrived in Walford in 2011 alongside his brother Anthony (played by Matt Lapinskas).

It’s safe to say that the duo stirred up quite a bit of drama during their time in the square. However, Tyler’s most notable storyline involved his tumultuous relationship with Whitney Dean (portrayed by Shona McGarty).

Unfortunately, in 2013, Tyler bid farewell to Walford when he chose to leave and join Anthony working on a cruise ship. Following his departure, he appeared on Celebrity Juice and in several short films.

He also shared a photo of himself standing in front of a fire engine, donning hi-vis trousers and a red London Fire Brigade T-shirt.

However, this month saw Tony return to our screens, featuring in BBC’s Doctors. The show, which centres around the doctors and staff at a bustling Midlands GP practice, first aired in 2000. For 24 years, it has been a constant presence on television and a hit with viewers.

In the Birmingham-based soap, Tony took on the role of David Marsden. The plot saw his character follow his estranged wife to the doctor’s practice after hours. With the help of receptionist Kirsty Millar (played by Kiruna Stamell), the new parents were able to resolve their issues.

The EastEnders door could still be open for Tyler Moon despite the character leaving Albert Square 11 years ago. In 2023, actor Tony told The Sun: “I loved my time there. It was a great chapter in my life and if the opportunity ever came up, I would definitely be interested.”

He quipped: “Tyler’s still alive, so it could happen. He left to join his brother Anthony on a cruise. They must have got stuck in the Arctic because it’s been a long old cruise! ”

In other soap news, BBC daytime soap Doctors is set to be axed with the last episode airing in December 2024. According to Beeb bosses, the decision has been made due to “increased expenses.”
