EastEnders icon’s sister appeared on soap – but boss had no idea they were related

EastEnders’ Lacey Turner is a soap legend playing Stacey Slater - but it turns out her younger sister once starred on the BBC One soap - and the boss had no idea they related

EastEnders Lacey Turner’s sister once appeared on the BBC One soap.

Actress Lacey shot to fame playing Stacey Slater – making her debut in 2004. And it’s fair to say she has gone on to become one of the soap’s most-loved stars.

Over the years, Lacey’s had some big storylines too playing Stacey. From her bipolar battle to murder, Stacey’s time in Walford has not been short of drama.

And it turns out acting runs in the Turner blood, as her younger sister has ventured out into the world of acting and soaps. Back in 2010, Lacey said goodbye to the soap – but sister Lily Harvey quickly joined the cast.

And it turns out even the exec producer had no idea Lily was related to Lacey. Bryan Kirkwood confessed at the time: “Whether by accident or design I sat down and watched a

tape of a very talented young girl.

“And it was only after we decided that I was told it was Lacey’s sister. So it was a complete accident.”

Lily guest starred on EastEnders until August 2011. She was then asked to join the cast full-time but stepped away in 2012.

Lacey’s other sister too has dived into the world of soaps. In 2011, Daisy Turner was 20 when she joined rival soap Hollyoaks on Channel 4. She played blonde beauty Jenny Houston.

At the time, Daisy admitted it was hard to start out as a soap star while her older sister Lacey was much more established. She told Liverpool Echo: “All three of us do it.

“Lacey and I acted as kids. Our mum, Bev, let us do everything – singing, dancing and acting,” she added. And it turns out Lacey had a sweet response to sister Daisy landing the Hollyoaks job telling her “she is there” for her.

Daisy explained: “I was at home with my mum and sisters when I got the call to say I’d got the part. Lacey said if I need her, she is there.”

She went on: “I suppose there is a bit of pressure because she is very good at what she does. She has done it for years and I am just starting out.”
