EastEnders Karen’s chilling six-word threat to The Six as she flees Walford in shock exit
EastEnders aired a shock exit for Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) who became convinced that members of The Six were responsible for the disappearance of her son Keanu
EastEnders fans were quick to notice Karen Taylor’s eerie final words before leaving Walford.
The BBC soap aired another shock exit for the worried mum on Thursday (February 8) when she left the Square in a black cab. She’s been desperately trying to find out what happened to her son Keanu, unware that he died at Christmas and is buried underneath the floor of the café.
Keanu was fatally stabbed by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) on Christmas Day in front of The Six – which also includes Stacey (Lacey Turner), Suki (Balvinder Sopal), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) and Denise (Diane Parish). They’ve been trying to cover up the killing ever since.
But Karen returned to Walford and became increasingly suspicious of the ladies after grilling them for answers. By the time she departed on Thursday, she was convinced they’d done something bad to Keanu and were lying to her about what happened.

She told Bernie: “Secrets don’t stay buried for long”. It was a haunting thing to say, given that her son is quite literally dead and buried.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans loved the dramatic quote. Fearing for The Six, one wrote: “karen saying “secrets don’t stay buried for long”… scared for the six”.
Another wrote: “Secrets don’t stay buried for long” Lovely choice of words, Karen”. A third said: “Karen saying “secrets don’t stay buried for long”.

A fourth reckoned Karen could make an explosive return. They commented: “Karen Taylor’s second exit!!!!! Goodbye Karen! Don’t stay away for too long. She’ll be back with the Bakers in tow when she finds out about Keanu’s death. #EastEnders.”
Karen seemed to get closest to the truth when she confronted a drunken Linda at the pub, who broke down in tears because of Karen’s interrogation. It was clear Linda was riddled with guilt and was close to caving, but Kathy swooped in to stop her revealing too much.
Later on, Bernie convinced her to take Phil and Kathy’s deal (fans will remember she stole £50k from Phil when she last fled Walford). With the debt written off in return for the Arches, Karen called a cab and slipped on her shades, ready for pastures new.
