EASTENDERS icon Cheryl Fergison has admitted she has been left in “agony” following a scary hospital dash.

The actress revealed she was left “sitting in a chair” for 24 hours at a Blackpool hospital amid her mystery illness.

Cheryl, 58, spoke out about her ordeal in an Instagram video where she confirmed she had been administered an IV drip of antibiotics every six hours during her hospital stay.

The star, who rose to fame for her role as Heather Trott in EastEnders, thanked the medical staff who treated her in the clip but she did not disclose the cause of her A&E dash.

Speaking to her followers, Cheryl said: “I’ve just spent the last 24 hours in A&E.”

Detailing her scary encounter, a clearly shaken Cheryl continued: “I’ve seen things in the last 24 hours that I cannot unsee.

“I’ve been in complete agony.”

Cheryl quickly affirmed that things were on the up however amid her health ordeal as she said: “I’ve been made a million times better by the angels that are all of the NHS staff.

“I wanna thank [the NHS] big time, when people say they don’t get paid enough – they don’t get paid enough!”

Cheryl’s hospital dash left her reflecting on the state of the NHS as she insisted it had “gone to pot, it’s shot” in the short video clip.

Although the EastEnders fan favourite did not divulge why she was in hospital, she received a slew of supportive messages from her fans amid the trying time.

One emotionally penned to the star: “So sorry x hope you’re feeling better x look after yourself x rest !!!! And hope you don’t have to go through that again.”

Another wrote: “Get well soon and thank goodness that the NHS is still battling on despite all that it’s going through.”

A third sweetly said: “Omg hope you ok now. Sending hugs.”

Before a fourth added: “Oh no Cheryl so sorry to hear that hope you feeling better soon.”

It comes as the star was left pleading with her fans for answers after having her blue tick verification stripped from her on X – formerly Twitter.

The platform deleted the icon from accounts across the platform after users refused to pay the fee.

However, Cheryl only recently noticed her was missing as she begged: “Can anyone explain why my verification tick has gone / been taken away ? Haven’t done anything wrong on this platform?”

She also recently hit out at Alison Hammond and insisted that late TV presenter Paul O’Grady would have wanted her to land the presenting job on his beloved For The Love Of Dogs show and not the This Morning star.

In a TikTok live, the star said: “I say good luck to Alison Hammond (for getting) For The Love Of Dogs, but I’m telling you now, Paul O’Grady would’ve definitely given me his blessing to do that job, because a) I have a dog, we’ve discussed our dogs quite a lot and I’ve always had dogs in my life, and erm yeah, dogs are the best, it’s that simple.”

BBC One viewers will remember the actress who played dowdy Heather Trott who was bludgeoned to death by troublemaking Ben Mitchell.
