EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has responded to a troll in a perfect way after a horrible comment online.

The actress, best known for her role as Sonia Fowler in the BBC One soap, appeared in an episode of The One Show this week to talk about EastEnders, as well as her new podcast with Gavin and Stacey’s Joanna Page.

On social media platform X, one user felt the need to post a nasty message about Natalie in response to a clip of her talking to presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas.

The comment read: ‘Such an ugly woman omg’. Fortunately Natalie was on hand to respond in a completely iconic way.

She wrote: ‘Sorry, I don’t go about saying I’m a model. I bet you’re an oil painting.🤦🏻‍♀️’.

We love her.

Recently, Natalie opened up about how she coped in the aftermath of June Brown’s death.

The iconic actress, who played Dot Cotton, died in April 2022, with EastEnders then paying tribute to her and saying their own goodbye to June and Dot in December of that year.

After the Walford residents got news that Dot had passed away, an emotional funeral was held which also saw the return of some iconic characters including Disa Brien (Jan Graveson) and Mary ‘The Punk’ Smith (Linda Davidson).

Speaking about her relationship with the soap veteran, Natalie said: ‘It was very, very difficult for me because obviously I’ve lost a dear friend.’

The actress added to The Mirror: ’She taught me a lot and we had a lot of laughs over the years. When she was 82 years old she’d be partying in a nightclub, and she was just so amazing.’

In upcoming scenes, Natalie’s character Sonia heads to Milton Keynes to visit Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

The trip turns out to be far more dramatic than Sonia could have anticipated when pregnant Whitney is hit by a car, leaving her family terrified.
