EastEnders actor Lorraine Stanley has announced another new role following her departure from the BBC One soap.

Lorraine’s character Karen Taylor left Albert Square last year, and has already been confirmed for a feature film. She has now announced a new on-stage project.

The actor will play Queen Rat in a pantomime of Dick Whittington in Portsmouth later this year, starting at the end of November and carrying on through to New Year’s Eve.

The aforementioned feature film she will appear in is called Departures, and features a host of other soap actors, including Hollyoaks’ David Tag, Emmerdale star Liam Boyle, and Waterloo Road actor Olly Rhodes.

Although Lorraine’s character Karen has left Walford, she made a brief comeback this year as the storyline surrounding her son Keanu’s death at the hands of The Six unfolds.

Lorraine is tipped to make yet another comeback to the soap in upcoming scenes, now that Keanu’s body has been found. It will only be a brief return, Digital Spy understands.
