EastEnders Mick Carter’s return date ‘rumbled’ by fans after Danny Dyer ‘clue’
Danny Dyer recently hinted he'd like to return to EastEnders to reprise his role of Mick Carter - and now fans are certain the seemingly-dead character could be brought back
EastEnders fans reckon Mick Carter will return and they’ve even got a date in mind.
The character, played by Danny Dyer, rocked up to Walford back in 2013 with the rest of the Carter clan. And the Queen Vic landlord quickly became a hit with viewers.
Over the years, Mick had some several big stories too. But in 2022, Danny confirmed he was leaving the soap – leaving fans gutted.
And on Christmas Day that year, his explosive exit scenes were aired. Fans will recall how Mick appeared to get lost at sea after plunging into the water to save his estranged wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
Since then, fans have been longing for Mick to make a return. Especially in recent months after Linda has turned to booze again following the return of her rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) as well as the murder, and cover-up, of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) at Christmastime.
And just last week, actor Danny Dyer got everyone talking about a potential major comeback to the BBC One soap with a cheeky hint on Instagram. Kellie Bright, who plays Linda recently posted a photo on her Instagram dressed up as Linda.
She wore a funny T-shirt about a big storyline from Christmas which said: “I killed Keanu.”. She wrote: “So what this? Er, yeah. I just, I liked it and I thought I’d get it.
“You know when you see something and you think that is so me. That is so me that top. I just had to have it.” Danny hinted that Mick might be on his way back to the show, writing in the caption section: “Oh L ….. Bring Mick back. [broken heart emoji].”
Now, fans are certain he will be returning and have ‘worked out’ when his comeback will air. On an EastEnders Facebook page, plenty of viewers shared their thoughts.
Reacting to Danny hinting at his comeback, fans pointed out how Danny’s ‘return’ could coincide with the soap’s 40th anniversary next year. One person said: “Will be the 40 year special.”
Someone else added: “Next year he will be bk I think for the 40th anniversary.” A third agreed: “I think that’s when he will come back too xx.”
On X, another viewer mused: “Do you think Mick Carter could return for the EastEnders 40th anniversary episode next year?” One person replied: “I think it’s unlikely we’ll see Mick again,” but someone else was quick to fire back.
They replied: “Not unless Eastenders airs surprise none of us see coming where he’s in some kind of hospital or clinic or he’s got amnesia and a new life/identity and he doesn’t remember his old life. That would be a good story for him to return too.”
A second added: “I hope so in one way or another even if it is just his spirit like when pat came to peggy. To tell Linda she’s okay shes got ppl that love her and to stay strong either way would love to Mick back.”
