Viewers tuning into EastEnders on Wednesday night were convinced a permanent return was on the cards for one villain.

But the BBC soap also sparked some confusion after ‘missing scenes’, as one character’s dark secret was possibly rumbled. Sharon Watts came face-to-face with her former stepmother this week in a prison twist.

After almost 20 years, Sharon faced her killer stepmother for the first time since she led police to her at the airport. Chrissie had murdered Sharon’s father Den Watts and was planning to flee the country, only for Sharon to track her down and have her arrested.

On Wednesday Chrissie vowed revenge on Sharon who had been imprisoned earlier this week, charged with contempt of court. Chrissie tried to attack her, before revealing she had been pregnant when she was sent to prison back in 2005.

She revealed she’d sadly lost her baby, and she blamed Sharon for this. But something else she said left some fans confused, amid speculation Chrissie will make a full-time return to Walford after some big news.

We know that it’s her parole meeting tomorrow with her hoping for an early release, almost 20 years on from her killer actions. Fans now think Chrissie will be released, and will make her way back to Albert Square.

It could pave the way for some dramatic scenes given her Walford history, and perhaps Sharon will face more danger. One fan theorised: “Sharon will say she started the fight so Chrissie gets her parole and gets out and Sharon will get extra days on her sentence.”

But as others predicted the same, some were confused about a possible new twist. Chrissie threatened to expose “what happened at Christmas” involving Sharon to the prison governor, leaving Sharon rattled.

In no scenes this week did we see Sharon reveal to Chrissie about her partner Keanu Taylor’s murder on Christmas Day. Fans know that Sharon was at the scene and helped cover up the crime, with Linda Carter killing Keanu.

Dean Wicks faced trial for the crime last week after being framed, with Sharon and The Six having to speak in court about Dean’s apparent involvement. This is what led to Sharon spending time in a cell, but what did Chrissie mean about Christmas and how could she know what went on?

One viewer posted: “Did Sharon tell Chrissie what happened with Keanu at Christmas?? Why would she say that she hopes the governor doesn’t hear what she did at Christmas?” Another added: “Wait did I miss something? How does Chrissie know about last Christmas?” It does seem Sharon mentioned something to Chrissie without going into detail, but does Chrissie know more?
