Charlie Suff made his debut on EastEnders earlier this month, with him having taken over a role on the show.

The actor, 29, has joined the cast of the BBC soap opera in the role of Johnny Carter. He’s the third person to play the character, following in the footsteps of Sam Strike and Ted Reilly, who have previously played Johnny on the show.

It isn’t Charlie’s first acting job, as he’s previously been in a couple of projects, including ITV shows Grantchester and Grace. He doesn’t just have experience as an actor though, as he’s understood to be a member of the band Third Face.

Charlie has been described as the “frontman” of the band, with him believed to provide the lead vocals. He’s said to also play the guitar and saxophone. He’s been in the band with bassist Lucy, guitarist Jamie and drummer Jack.

The quartet have promoted their music on Instagram, with a page for the band having been launched on the platform in 2022. Their first post, which is dated to September that year, teased that their first single would be out “soon”.

The band have released two singles to date. Their debut single, titled Lost in It, was released in October 2022. It was followed up by the track Something in Movement, which has been available to stream since December that same year.

They have continued to perform at gigs since then though, despite having not released any subsequent music. The most recent post on their page, uploaded in September last year, shows Charlie and Jamie performing Manchester. Teasing about an upcoming gig, it’s stated in the caption: “We are buzzed to be playing alongside some wicked bands.”

Charlie made his debut on EastEnders just last week. His character has returned to Albert Square amid his mother Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) struggling in the wake of her having killed Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) at Christmas.

He said: “Johnny is back in Walford because he has caught wind from his Gran that things aren’t going too well for Linda. There’s a lot of worry about his mum, and the family needs Johnny back home to steer the ship and get things back on track. There is a lot going on! He is absolutely devastated.”

And teasing what to expect, he previously shared: “I would say that there are a lot of people whom Johnny hasn’t seen for a long time – some he’s very happy to see, and some he isn’t. I think Johnny is coming back with a bang, wanting to show the people of Walford that he’s all grown up and not to be messed with.”
