EastEnders’ Ricky Norwood axed from Dancing on Ice after ‘message from Bob Marley’s son’

EastEnders favourite Ricky Norwood is the fifth contestant to be eliminated from Dancing on Ice just moments after he received a special message from Bob Marley's son

Ricky Norwood has been dumped from Dancing on Ice in the dreaded skate-off moments after he received a “good luck message from Bob Marley’s son.”

This week, contestants took part in personal week where they were tasked to pick a song and build a routine around something that means a lot to them. The EastEnders favourite took to the ice with his skating partner Annette Dytrt this week where he performed to Three Little Birds by the beloved Jamaican singer.

The actor went on to wow the judges with their impressive routine which awarded them their highest result of the series: 30.0 points out of a possible 40.0. Despite his continued improvement on the ice, the former soap star found himself in the skate off with former Love Island beauty Amber Davies.

She performed to Mama by the Spice Girls with her pro skater Simon Senecal to celebrate her close bond with her mother, Susan. The celebrities certainly brought their A game as they took to the ice for the second time.

But after much deliberation, the judges decided to save Amber and Simon who went through to next week’s show which has promised a major team challenge. Moments before he was eliminated from the competition, Ricky revealed that he was surprised he had got so far in the competition anyway.

He told viewers: “I just wanted to go out there and do it, I mean what a journey we’ve had. Bob Marley’s son just gave me a good luck message, I got a handshake off of Chris [Dean].

“Do you know what I mean? We got out best scores! It’s a fantastic show and a special moment.” It didn’t take long before disappointed viewers took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their frustration at his elimination online.

Many viewers pointed out that the ex-soap star skated unassisted more than his fellow contestant which the judges had been looking out for all episode.

One user penned: “HOW was Amber saved when she was just lifted about the entire routine??? Ricky actually skated on his own and it still wasn’t enough???? #dancingonice.”

Another agreed: “ABSOLUTE P**S TAKE !!!! Amber’s skates never hit the ice !! She’s carried round every week! Ricky has been mugged off. So sorry to Ricky #doi.”

A third echoed: “I think the judges made a mistake there #DancingOnIce Ricky actually skated on his own and spent more time on the ice. Amber let go for a millisecond and spent most of her time being lifted. When will the judges notice?”

Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday from 6.25pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
