Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) has left Albert Square behind him after recent heartbreak – but he didn’t leave alone.

Last night, Bobby discussed the possibility of going to stay with Jane Beale (Laurie Brett), and tonight she made an unexpected return to the BBC soap to bring him home.

Bobby was left crushed earlier this week when he caught girlfriend Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) kissing his best friend Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier).

Using the betrayal for her own gain, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) manipulated the situation to get Bobby to leave Walford, and he soon agreed that it was for the best.

However, neither Ian nor Kathy Beale (Adam Woodyatt and Gillian Taylforth) were happy about the idea of Bobby leaving, and tried their best to convince him to stay.

Unfortunately, Bobby had already made up his mind and, over Lucy Beale’s grave, explained how he wanted to finally be free of his past.

Viewers will know that Bobby murdered sister Lucy as a child, and has been dealing with the consequences ever since.

With his mind made up about leaving, the family gathered to wave him off, and Jane got out of the car to step foot in Albert Square for the first time in seven years.

Before leaving with Bobby, she promised Ian that she would take care of him.

Fans were overjoyed to see Jane back in Walford, following her brief return earlier this year.

In the summer, it was revealed that Ian was back in contact with Jane, and had gone to visit her at her house in the Cotswolds.

It was there that she revealed she wanted to be back in Bobby’s life, and now she has got her wish.

Is this the last we’ll see of Bobby and Jane, or will they return to their roots in Albert Square at some point in the future?
