The explosive feud between Kat and Phil Mitchell (Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden) continues in EastEnders next week as their divorce proceedings commence.
The couple split spectacularly last month when Phil’s sister Sam (Kim Medcalf) exposed his affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) at their joint birthday party.
Scorned Sam was furious with her brother after learning he had withheld inheritance money left to them in their Aunt Sal’s (Anna Karen) will.
Kat was left broken by the revelation, sweeping her kids up in the middle of the night and fleeing to the cramped Slater residence.
Phil offered room for the boys at his house, but she was adamant that he was to play no part in their upbringing and instead offered free accommodation at one of evil Nish Panesar’s (Navan Chowdhry) properties.
Before long Kat and Nish’s relationship had developed beyond platonic and the twisted businessman was eyeing up what gain he could achieve from pairing up with her.
Next week, as Phil has contacted his solicitor to deal with their divorce, Kat begins to become suspicious that he is being dishonest about the businesses he owns.
With Sharon (Letitia Dean) in Australia, Phil took back control of the Arches and handed it to his son Ben (Max Bowden), but now looks to buy it back from him.
Confiding in Nish, he suggests she contact his dodgy lawyer Roger Peel for advice in the hope he can claim some of the Mitchell empire.
