hil Mitchell becomes embroiled in another murder mystery as a shocking twist unfolds in Albert Square.

This week, Albert Square residents were stunned when police stormed Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell’s engagement party, arresting them both for the murder of Reiss’ wife, Debbie. Viewers were already aware that Reiss had smothered Debbie to death after falling behind on her care home fees—though Sonia remained blissfully ignorant of the dark secret.

In tonight’s episode, Sonia and Reiss faced intense interrogation at the police station. Sonia, visibly shaken, found herself in hot water when police revealed that her DNA was discovered all over Debbie’s pillow. Her attempts to explain fell flat, and suspicions continued to mount.

Things took an even darker turn when witnesses claimed to have overheard Sonia saying that “things would be easier if Debbie were dead.” Meanwhile, Martin sought Phil’s help, hoping he could get Sonia a top-tier solicitor. Earlier this week, Sonia reminded Phil of his promise to Jamie to always look out for her, and Martin piled on the pressure by recalling how Sonia once saved Ben’s life. Moved by their pleas, Phil soon arranged for a new solicitor to take her case.

Across town, Reiss received some unexpected good news—his phone records placed him at a bar on the night of Debbie’s death, giving him a solid alibi. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for Sonia, who had no alibi to back her up.

As the episode reached its climax, Sonia was officially charged with Debbie’s murder. Reiss, devastated, protested her innocence but refrained from admitting his guilt. Will Reiss ever come clean and save Sonia, or is she doomed to face a long sentence for a crime she didn’t commit?

The clock is ticking, and the stakes have never been higher.
