EastEnders icon Shona McGarty took to X, formerly Twitter, and shared that she hasn’t seen the final episode. The 32-year-old actress expressed that she was left in ‘floods of tears’ by a video shared by BBC EastEnders’ social media account.
McGarty wrote, ‘Haven’t watched my last episode, as I’m waiting to be on the sofa, surrounded by family.’ She continued by saying that her mother sent her this video and told her that she HAD to watch this!
Furthermore, this video made her emotional, and she thanked BBC EastEnders for everything. EastEnders fans’ know that Shona has been a part of the show for the past 16 years and recently announced her exit.
The actress said that she wants to explore other opportunities and she loved every minute on the BBC One soap. Shona’s character, Whitney, last scenes played out in Thursday’s episode.
EastEnders spoilers relay that her exit storyline is about Whitney moving to Wakefield to stay with her brother, Ryan Malloy. She will be leaving Walford along with her daughters, Dolly and Britney. All this happened because her fiance cheated on her with her best friend, Lauren.
Whitney wasn’t able to take this betrayal and tells Zack that she will never regret the time they had together but their relationship is over. Viewers will see a goodbye party at the Vic, and after her farewell, she will get on the bus to start her new life.

While Whitney leaves the town and walks through the market, everyone will applaud as she breaks down in tears. She will get on the bus with her young daughter Britney and leave Walford for good. Even though Whitney has left the street, fans are upset about how bad the exit has been planned.
One of the users wrote, ‘Shona McGarty’s final episode might be one of the worst episodes that he has endured.’ Another said that this was the most unnecessarily complicated exit ever and was wrong in many ways.
The fans also paid attention to how Whitney was able to get into a huge gown after giving birth. In addition, they said this was unrealistic and were sure that this exit storyline must’ve been written by a man (Amen, sister).
