EastEnders star issues plea to BBC bosses as he’s left scared to do the school run after evil soap scenes

The actor reveals if he enjoys being evil

THE soap villain has pleaded with the BBC soap to tone down his evil character so he able to do the school run without being “scared”.

Nish Panesar – played by Navin Chowdhry in the BBC soap – recently returned to Albert Square with shocking news that he is dying.

The Panesar family failed to believe him at first as they thought it was another one of his schemes to worm his way back into the family.

However, in hospital, the doctors confirmed that Nish has viral myocarditis and is in urgent need of a heart transplant.

The doctor informed him: “I do have to warn you though, given the state of your health, the chances of finding a donor organ in time are slim.”

Nish looked devastated and said: “But you said I had years left. I’m supposed to have years.”

The 53-year-old actor has opened up about the backlash he gets from soap fans.

Speaking to Daily Star, he said: “There have been moments when we’ve had scenes and I’ll speak to the producer and I’ll say, ‘I’m going to have to go on the school run and you’re making me beat up every woman on Albert Square’. I’ve been scared.

“I am aware that everyone wanted him to die at Christmas. I apologise to the audience that I’m still around!”

He added: “There has been the odd comment. There are a few unfriendly messages I’ve been on the receiving end of. But most people get it.”

But overall he said: “I enjoy being evil. And we have a good time on set. They often say the best fun you have is when you’re doing the darkest stuff.

“Sometimes when you go really dark, the flipside is you have a very fun experience on set.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
