AXED EastEnders actor Max Bowden is running £36 acting lessons to help earn a living.

The lad, who has played Ben Mitchell since 2019, was dropped by the BBC soap in January and told his contract would not be renewed.

Now he’s been offered a lifeline by co-star and pal Jacqueline Jossa, who has hired the actor to hold workshops at her drama academy.

The slots are listed on her acting school’s website, with the blurb reading: “Max Bowden is a talented actor who has been in many plays, films and tv shows.

“This workshop will give you an insight into the industry first hand.

“Max will be covering script work , monologues and confidence building.

“There will be a chance to get advice and tips/ techniques with a Question and answer session at the end.”

Further advice reads: “Please bring a drink of water along to this workshop.”
Jacqueline, 31, returned to EastEnders over the festive season when her character Lauren Branning came back to Walford for storylines around Dot’s funeral.

But she has known Max, 29, for years.

The Sun on Sunday reported that Max had a showdown with bigwigs behind the scenes at the end of last year and it was decided that his contract would not be renewed when it expires this month.

A big factor in the decision was thought to be his chequered love life and off-screen partying.

He most recently dated EastEnders star Shona McGarty, but split after he became a dad with his ex-girlfriend.

A TV insider said: “Max has played Ben for the last four years and bosses decided his time on the show was up.

“There has been a lot of noise around him for a bit too long and that can take away from the drama on the show.

“He went in for a meeting as his contract was up for renewal next year.

“No one knew how it was going to go and following discussions it was decided that he would leave.

“Bosses have yet to plan his exit storyline but Ben is not a character

In a clip obtained by The Sun, Max was in February seen saying: “I’m so f*****g excited to get out” as he posed with fans at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood.

Speaking about the clip, Max later said: “I was talking about my excitement for the future and what’s to come.”
