Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is set to face danger in upcoming EastEnders episodes when she is hit by a car in dramatic scenes.
During her visit to see Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), Whitney meets a young girl called Britney (Lola Campbell), who she instantly grows protective over.
‘Britney is a young girl who lives on Bianca’s estate with her mum Keeley,’ actress Shona McGarty revealed.
‘Keeley hasn’t been looking after her at all and Whitney feels incredibly sorry for her. She tries to help her, and wants to take her under her wing. Britney reminds Whitney of herself at that age.’
After a row between Whitney and Keeley, Britney runs off, leaving Whitney with no choice but to chase after her.
However, things take a horrifying turn when Britney steps out in front of a speeding car, and Whitney acts quickly to save her.
Pushing Britney out of the way, Whitney ends up being hit by the car herself, much to everyone’s horror.
While the experience is horrible for the characters involved, actress Shona really enjoyed filming the dramatic scenes, and revealed that she had a lot of fun doing the stunt.
‘It’s my favourite thing to do. I just absolutely love doing stunts. All the stunt guys and women on this show always try and pull me back a little bit because I’m always saying “can’t I just do that” as I’m desperate to do stunts when it’s safe for me to do them. It was really fun.’
Thankfully, Whitney survives the crash, and there is no harm to her unborn baby, though her relationship with Zack Hudson (James Farrar) is set to hit the rocks in the aftermath of the crash.
It all begins when Britney’s parents are arrested and Whitney offers to foster her, against Zack’s wishes, leaving him frustrated.
‘Zack is so annoyed with Whitney,’ Shona explained. ‘Obviously Zack was fostered so he has an understanding, but he’s just so concerned about this baby that he goes back to the Square without Whitney and Whitney makes Britney her main priority instead of Zack which is quite sad.’
Could this be the end of Whitney and Zack?
