EastEnders fans have ‘worked out’ what Stevie Mitchell is hiding – and it’s not looking good for son Billy.

The character, played by Alan Ford, rocked up to Walford earlier this year. As the estranged father of Billy (Perry Fenwick), Stevie first appeared on screen in January for the funeral of Aunt Sal (Anna Karen).

However, he was warned by Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to stay away after having surrendered Billy into care as a child. From the age of ten, Billy grew up in care after Stevie took sole custody of his brother Charlie. The pair last saw each other off-screen over 25 years ago.

Fast forward to more recent times, and Stevie showed up again – leaving the Mitchell clan stunned. However, over in the soap this week it was revealed that Stevie has a secret family.

In Thursday’s episode (June 27) Stevie was then visited by his Teddy, Harry and Barney. After spotting Will talking to Stevie, Teddy was determined to get to the bottom of things. He and his sons headed to Walford to investigate further. And during a tense showdown in the Queen Vic, Stevie revealed all: that Billy and Teddy are half-brothers.

Billy found out he has a half-brother

During Friday’s episode (June 28), that’s already been uploaded to BBC iPlayer, the entire family headed over to Phil’s house to talk it out.

While there, Stevie explained that he had a fling with Teddy’s mum back in the day. Billy eventually offered Teddy an olive branch and the pair made amends – much to the delight of Stevie.

However, as the new Mitchell family mingled and tucked into takeaway pizza at Phil’s, Teddy sat down next to Stevie to have a quiet word.

He told his dad: “Why did you tell him mum was just a fling?” He then cryptically added: “Whatever you’re hiding, it’ll come out in the end.”

Now, fans are certain they have ‘rumbled’ what Stevie is hiding. On a Reddit thread, one person said: “Either Stevie isn’t Billy’s biological father or the “why did you say mum was a fling” is actually his mother too and he and teddy are full brothers.”

Someone else responded: “That would explain a huge amount if he is not Billy’s Father. Why he preferred Charlie, why he saw him as the runt of the litter, and why he was absent for most of his life.”

They added: “That would be interesting about having the same mother – after building some bridges with Billy maybe Stevie would feel guilty about having a family with Billy’s mother while Billy had a life in care (poor Billy!)”

A third chimed in and wrote: “I reckon you’re probably right about them Being full brothers.” Meanwhile, on X, someone else reckons that Billy isn’t actually Stevie’s son.

A fan penned: “The angry Mitchell certainly doesn’t suit him. and something tells me he isn’t actually Stevie’ son.”

While on a Facebook fan page, another viewer echoed that theory and shared: “So what’s he hiding? I have a funny feeling Steve is not Billy’s dad meaning maybe Billy is not even a Mitchell by blood.

“I wonder if Charlie was not his son either. Maybe Teddy’s family was stevies true family and Billy’s mum was a fling or he was married to both Billy’s mum and Teddy’s bigamist. Whatever it is it’s going to be explosive for sure” they added. A second person mused: “I thought the same…bigamy first or Billy not a Mitchell.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
