EXCLUSIVE: BBC EastEnders star addresses Cindy Junior ‘return’ as viewers make same demand after sad news
Amid speculation there could be a return to EastEnders for former character Cindy Jnr, Cindy Beale's daughter, one star of the BBC soap has addressed the theory
EastEnders spoilers recently teased a return for Cindy Jr, the daughter of Cindy Beale, following a major BBC soap twist.
Now, one star of the show has addressed the possible return of Cindy Williams, last played by actress Mimi Keene in 2015, in an exclusive chat with The Mirror after some upsetting news shared by Cindy Snr. Recent episodes saw Cindy Snr heading off to track down her estranged daughter, to finally tell her she was alive and had been all along.
Cindy returned from the dead last year on the show, having been killed off offscreen back in 1998 while in prison. Cindy was said to have died during the birth of Cindy Jnr, and this was something the namesake always struggled with.
But the reunion did not go well, and Cindy Snr returned to Walford with some sad news this week amid fans hoping for Cindy Jr to make a comeback. One scene on Tuesday night left a number of fans all making the same demand to show bosses out of disappointment.
A gutted Cindy Snr revealed her daughter did not want to know after she showed up and revealed her true fate, and all about being in witness protection for decades. Cindy Jr would have also found out she has two secret siblings in Gina and Anna Knight, while the Knights and the Beales found this all out last year.

But Cindy Jr told her mother she did not want to reconcile after spending their whole lives apart, with her even telling her she wished she was really dead. Cindy didn’t even stick around to see if she could fix things amid drama with her ex George Knight, and returned to Walford without her daughter.
Fans were disappointed though having hoped Cindy would be back or that we would at least have seen the pair come face-to-face. Instead fans were left demanding a return for Cindy Jr, even if it was brief, to see her back in Walford and in scenes with her mum.
Now, Anna actress Molly Rainford has also had her say amid the speculation and the hopes from fans. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Molly shared her thoughts on a return for Anna’s sibling.
She too agreed with fans and called for the comeback of the character, believing now was the right time for the siblings to meet. She told us: “Yeah I’d love for her to return, absolutely. I feel like she must be around Anna and Gina’s age too so that would be good!”
As for fans taking to X, many shared their hopes for a comeback with one writing: “So it didn’t go well with Cindy JR. I wish we’d got to see the interaction.” Another said: “Still think they should’ve had Cindy Jr back for an episode or two,” as a third added: “I hope she comes back at some point.”
