EastEnders fans should brace themselves, as there’s “worse” ahead from Nish Panesar as his reasons for targeting Kat Slater become clear.

The villain has already infuriated BBC soap fans for more than a year thanks to his abusive and manipulative ways towards his now ex-wife Suki Panesar and their children. Nish only got out of prison in 2022 after killing a man he believed was having an affair with his wife.

He then tried to have her new partner Eve Unwin killed, and when Suki planned to leave him he turned violent against her. In recent weeks he eyed up a new target in Kat following her split from Phil Mitchell.

It soon became apparent he had an ulterior motive for the romance, and that has now come to light for Kat too. Not only that, but spoilers for this week’s episodes have revealed he turns nasty once again as he attacks Kat.

Now, speaking exclusively to The Mirror Nish actor Navin Chowdhry has revealed what is ahead for the character, and it seems there is worse to come. He told us there were some “awful” scenes on the way, seemingly forming from the plot with Kat.

He teased shock betrayals and new alliances, as his true intentions come to light. Navin told us: “I think the show likes to shock people and what do you do after the big Christmas story? Let’s put Nish and Kat together and see!

“But there is method in how bad that story is and it is gonna unfold across the next couple of weeks. There is more than meets the eye, and I think with respect to the Panesars there’s lots of alliances and allegiances tested.

“There’s betrayals that go deeper and a lot of double crossing. It gets very complex, it’s a messy family affair that is developing further would you believe that was possible. There’s some messy and awful stuff coming in a good sense. Worse than we have already seen.”

The actor also told us whether we might see Nish begin snooping around again, in a bid to work out who attacked him at Christmas. He said: “I think there’s two sides of the story because of what happened to Kenau and what happened to Nish.

“From what we know from Nish, he may have temporarily dropped pursuit and stopped looking into it, but for a man like him to be overpowered by six women in The Vic on Christmas Day, it’s too much for him to surely let go of. So I think it’s about timing and he will want to get to the bottom of what happened exactly.”
