George Knight (Colin Salmon) was left completely heartbroken in recent EastEnders scenes when he discovered that his adopted dad, Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) had murdered his biological dad, Henry Kofi Asare over 40 years ago.

With Eddie having confessed to the murder and George having admitted to being present during the attack, the pub landlord was left with the decision of whether or not to go to the police.

While battling with his conscience, George called ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and admitted that he wished she was here and, in true Cindy Beale style, she soon came running.

During their emotional chat, George revealed how Gloria Knight (Elizabeth Counsell) had asked Eddie to do whatever it took to stop Henry taking George away, and how this had led to his murder.

Cindy was shocked by the events, as George apologised for not seeing Eddie for the man he really was, as she had.

When Cindy asked if Gloria knew the truth about the murder all along, George admitted that she must have done in her heart of hearts, but expressed how he was worried she wouldn’t survive if Eddie went to prison.

Cindy was quick to admit that, if it was her, she would go straight to the police and tell them everything, but recognised George’s bond with Gloria and urged him to make his own decision.

Following their conversation, George sat his family down and revealed that he wasn’t going to stand as Eddie’s character witness, as he had wanted, but that he wasn’t going to make a police statement either.

Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) was horrified, pointing out that he was the only witness to the crime.

When George pointed out that sending Eddie to prison would kill Gloria, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) revealed that that was ‘tough’, as Eddie had killed ‘a complete stranger’.

Having already decided to take a DNA test to try and find his biological mother and give his daughters the most accurate answers he could about heir heritage, George kept quiet about Henry’s true identity.

Instead, George insisted that, without any real evidence, it was his word against Eddie’s.

This wasn’t enough to put anna off the idea, as she insisted that he had to try, no matter how hard it would be.

As Gina agreed, George revealed that they had no idea what he had been through over the last few days, which led Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) to urge him to think about it some more, before making any rash decisions while his head wasn’t in the right place.

George, however, remained certain that he wanted to put that past behind him and begged them not to fight his decision.

Has he made the right choice, or are Gina and Anna right to worry that he may regret it?
